Remote Intervention Program

Guatemala is characterized by its cultural diversity, with a wide range of ethnic and linguistic diversity. According to INE data (2024), our total population was approximately 17.8 million people, of which 14.2 million lived in rural areas.

With the goal of fulfilling our mission to generate inclusive development opportunities, our Remote Intervention program provides families in rural areas who, due to logistical and distance reasons, cannot attend the Foundation’s daily programs, with the tools to develop skills and abilities that allow individuals with Down syndrome to participate fully in various aspects of their communities. To provide the family with the necessary tools to develop the adaptive skills of the person with Down Syndrome.

Methodology

The program has a group or individual approach depending on the student’s needs. Families attend once a month or every two weeks, depending on their availability. If the student demonstrates the necessary skills, they can be included in the regular program appropriate for their age after receiving individual support.

The professionals in charge provide and explain to the parents the homework plan that they should replicate when they are not attending the Foundation. Virtual support and feedback are provided during the weeks they are absent.
